What:
           
An after school program for High School students that focuses on bringing understanding to the students about holistic wellness. 

Why:

There is little awareness and understanding of how one is able to live healthy.  We are witnessing an obesity problem through out our country and this needs to be changed.  The best way to change that of which is to come is by helping those who are coming.  We want to focus on the High School students to empower them with awareness and understanding that they do have the ability to overcome the problem and can influence the solution.  High School students are prime for this program because they have the ability to make decisions on their own and have more freedom to do so before they are controlled by to many unhealthy habits.  No matter the age there is always hope of a greater change towards life giving ways of living and we want it to begin first with those who are going to be having the most influence on the years to come.

How:

The program will consist of three parts.
1.     Physical fitness understanding
2.     Nutrition awareness
3.     Character development

To have the effect of holistic health we need to not only focus on physical fitness understanding but also nutrition awareness.  We will equip the students with proper physical exercise techniques, plans, and goals so they are all able to lead that area within their own lives. 

Nutrition awareness is necessary because no matter how much effort one gives to physically training their body, they will be limited to the impact on their bodies and will ultimately fall short of being internally healthy.  We will be giving them information on how to eat right and how it is only a decision that they are all able to make.

Character development is the third part of the program.  This is what will complete the program for our goal of changing their lives in the moment and affecting them for their whole lives.  We can make decisions that can change our bodies but if we don’t take action that will also change our hearts, then the effect of our effort will not bring the same change to others.

Wellness is not just an event but it is a lifestyle.  All three parts are necessary for an effective program because for any change to happen there has to be a purpose that enables it.

When:

The program will be (6) weeks long
(2) Classes a week
(1) Hour and (15) minutes per class
